The Student Council is primarily responsible for student activities which impact the school and community. Student Council is an organization created and run by students. A faculty advisor is here to assist, but the ideas, planning and running of the activities is ultimately up to the students.
Student Council membership is open to both 7th and 8th grade students at Bear Branch Junior High. Members should have a good academic standing, obey all school rules and set an example of responsibility and integrity within the school and community. Eighth grade students will have the opportunity to run for elected officers. The officer roles will be President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Historian.
Student Council will start the year developing leadership skills and discussing what that looks like. We will collaborate to build our own commitments and rules as a team and then start our election process for officers. We going over what each roles responsibilities will be. Then student will have to opportunity to campaign and run for the officer position they are interested in. Student council will aid in school fundraising and morale. Some of the ways we will do this is by holding bake sales for Valentines and Christmas, helping with school dances, announcements pep rallies and spirit weeks. We will also strive to help the community by completing and project and volunteering.
School pride and appreciation is also important at Bear Branch. We will dedicate time to acknowledge and appreciate teachers and students doing great things in our school. This is also a place to share ideas and help grow this club into something great. In our collaborations we will have the freedom to come up with more or new ideas in how to help our school and community. This can be as awesome as we want to make it!
