My name is Dawn Warren and I have been enthusiastically teaching US History for the past 26 years! I graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Social Studies. I spent my first 7 years teaching American History to 5th graders, then found my true calling in Junior High and I've been teaching 8th graders ever since. I started in Aldine ISD and have been at BBJH for the past 10 years.
I believe in being a lifelong learner and have dove head first into using technology in the classroom. It truly has opened some giant doors for learning and fun! My past students have loved it as we learn to use technology to explore the past. I was honored in 2013 by being named Magnolia ISD's Secondary Teacher of the Year and in 2018 the area's VFW Teacher of the year and every year I continue to strive to improve and grow as an educator.
I also sponsor the BBJH/Magnolia ISD International Travel Program. I have taken students and parents in 2017 to Italy and Greece, England and Ireland in 2018, and in 2019 we will be traveling to Australia/ New Zealand! Email me for more information.
My father was in the Air Force for 20 years, which made it possible for me to travel around our nation as a kid. In that process, I grew up with the deep appreciation for all the men and women, past and present, who have served our country. I have lived in the Magnolia community for the past 13 years with my husband Darren and our two fur babies, Sammy and Hazel. I love dog parks, playing any Lego games on my PS3, a die-hard Harry Potter fan, and a proud History nerd!
