My name is Cody Wright, and I am very excited to be joining the best Language Arts team ever here at Bear Branch Junior High! Just as we tell our students to put forth their maximum effort in class, I want you to know that we as an ELA team put fourth our maximum effort in planning and implementing effective, engaging reading and writing lessons for your children.
While this is my first year teaching at BBJH, it is my seventh year in teaching and education. I have a B.A. in English from Texas A&M University (whoop!), and an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston. Before teaching, I worked as a counseling intern doing early childhood play therapy at Texas Children's Hospital Learning Support Services and then at the counseling center at Houston's First Baptist Church. I have three wonderful children of my own, Isabelle (15), Keller (11), and Claire (5) that I spend most of my time outside of school driving around to their various activities!
I love teaching reading and writing, and I look forward to helping your students master these skills this year. We are highly focused in 7th grade on perfecting these skills, and your student will be expected to read and/or write on a daily basis in class. I look forward to getting to know each one of them this year.
