Dr. King has been in education for seven years. He taught junior high and high school English, taught composition and rhetoric classes for Lone Star Community College, and coached junior high football, basketball, and track. The last three years, he worked in Magnolia ISD's curriculum office as a curriculum specialist and at Magnolia Junior High as an academic coordinator.
Dr. King earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from East Texas Baptist University (2005), a Master of Arts degree in English from Belmont University (2007), and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He has published two articles and wrote a dissertation titled "A phenomenological exploration of the experience of having a choice in the classroom." His academic interests include student engagement and curriculum development.
Dr. King has been happily married to Heather King for nine years. He and Heather have two children, AnnElise (6 y/o) and Langston (23 mos.). The Kings live in Conroe and are active members at First Baptist Church Conroe, where Dr. King serves as a deacon and where he and Heather lead a young adult life group.
